I’m going to have to elaborate on this, as its been a big deal for us the whole time we’ve had kids!
Shannon initially thought that her first seizure occured in the eighth month of pregnancy with Quinn (born April 4, 2005). However, she soon recognized that since childhood she had been experiencing the “aura“ (for her these are simple partial seizures or more often now complex partial seizures) one or more of which immediately precede each of Shannon’s recurring secondary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It has been difficult to have parenthood and epilepsy both manifest at the same time. I’ve maybe commented on it here.
Some notes:
- As a baby Shannon experienced a severe reaction (including what reportedly looked like seizures) to a vaccination.
- No one recognized the recurring simple partial seizures while Shannon was young.
- Witness accounts describe an event in July 2002 that was probably the first of Shannon’s generalized seizures.
- Below and linked are some charts that cover the time since 2005. They do not yet include notes about auras/partial seizures.
